Prop: blood amulet

Amulets given to persons of prominence within the society. This marks them as an individual whose personality will be preserved eternally as a member of The Council of Ages. The amulet contains a small vial of the person’s blood that has been enchanted by royal court magicians, thus allowing the blood to act as a temporary container for the person’s soul after death.
The blood from the amulet must then be applied using special emboldening rods during the Rite of Ages, a ritual which must be performed before midnight on the day of the person’s death. The head is severed from the dead body during the Rite, and it becomes the permanent container for the soul.
Thus The Council of Ages is a collective group of body-less immortals who represent the entirety of the kingdom’s history and rule.
